PC ANDY STAFFORD and PC Jason Norman from Hackney's Dalston Town Centre team stopped and searched two women who were in possession of a large quantity of stolen goods.
Both suspects aged 20, and 28, where arrested and taken to Dalston Police Station where they later confessed to shoplifting offences and were charged with handlingstolen goods.
On 15 December PC Jason Norman conducted investigations in Stoke Newington Church Street and identified the shops where the goods were stolen from by comparing labels, packaging. Whilst carrying out his investigations he linked a previously reported theft of a mobile phone to the suspects arrested by the team the previous day.
Officers visited the suspects at their home address, where the admitted the offence. The mobile phone was later retrieved from a shop on Stoke Newington High Street and returned to the rightful owner.
Sergeant Jeff Fullstone, Hackney's Dalston Town Centre Team said: ?"This is a brilliant result and is an excellent example of intelligence- based policing. It reinforces the commitment of Dalston Town Centre Team who went above and beyond the call of duty to bring the offenders to justice."
