AT a week-long trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court last week, Dwayne Brissett, 27 of Vaine House, Cassland Road, E9, was sentenced to 27 months imprisonment for possession of criminal property last Friday.

Brissett was stopped by police on Cassland Road in Hackney acting suspiciously on March 21, 2006. A subsequent search of his property uncovered just over £13,000 in cash. Analysis of the banknotes revealed them to be heavily contaminated with heroin.

DS Maggie McGuinness of Hackney's Financial Investigations Unit, said, ?“This is a great result and demonstrates our determination to going after criminals in Hackney and targeting any profit they may attempt to make from crime. I hope this sends a clear message to those who are living from the proceeds of crime, that we will pursue them through the courts and take back their ill gotten gains”
