Venezuela Representatives Vouch for Angola’s OPEC Membership

The Venezuelan representative to the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Iván Alcalá, has said that his government will support the intention of Angola to join the oil institution as a full member. Speaking to the press after his arrival at Luanda`s International Airport, Iván Alcalá said that Angola, as an OPEC observer member, has already expressed its interest to become an effective member of the association.

“Its effort in the field makes it a deserving candidate and has the trust of the Venezuelan government for it to join the organisation”, he said. "Another reason for my visit is to strengthen cooperation with Angola in the field of energy and petroleum especially in the hydrocarbon areas," stressed the South-American government official.

Alcalá added that he will also exchange experience with Angolan officials concerning the policies of distribution of petrol and privatisation of their petroleum industry.
