OFFICERS from Clissold Safer Neighbourhoods team carried out anti gun and knife talks at Beatty Layward and Daniel House primary schools in Hackney. The officers talked to students about the dangers of knife and gun crime. The day focused on highlighting the implications of carrying weapons and the dangers that young people put themselves in.
Sgnt Sue Wright from Clissold safer Neighbourhood Team Said: “We believe prevention is better than cure, that’s why we go to talk to children as young as the last year of primary school. We organised these visits as an opportunity to get to know the students and discuss crime related issues. Guns and knives are not cool, they do not command respect and you cannot carry a weapon as an excuse to protect yourself. You are more at risk of the weapon being used against you, which could lead to serious if not fatal injuries.”
