Angolan exports are expected to reach around $28 billion by the end of the year, against the 23.2 billion dollars of last year, said Amadeu Mauricio in Luanda, the governor of the country's National Reserve Bank.
Speaking at a lecture under the theme "The role of the Reserve Bank in the development
of Angola", the official revealed that exports on the oil sector alone will reach $26 billion, which is much higher than the amount reached in 2003 of around 8.7 billion dollars. |
According to Mauricio, the rapid increase on the country’s export income has been the main factor for the strengthening of the Angola’s balance of payments. And he made it clear that this increase must be sustained at all costs.
The concentration of export income in one product (oil), he explained, is another reason
for the BNA to work with international reserves at more comfortable levels. The Reserve Bank is more comfortably working with international reserves, and this makes the country grow in an accelerated and sustainable way.
