2,000 plus guests celebrate Ghana’s independence at the Ocean Music Arena

OVER 2,000 Ghanaians and friends of Ghana joined the independence celebrations at the Ocean Music Arena, on Saturday 8th March 2008, marking Ghana’s 51st year of independence from British colonial rule.

The event which was hosted by Rich Promotions and Akwaaba saw performances by Ghanaian born MOBO Award finalist Tinchy Stryder and UK chart topper T2, performing his top 10 smash hit single – Heartbroken; as well as appearances by top Ghanaian artistes including VIP, OD4, Madfish and FBS Crew.

The annual celebration which has seen the likes of ITV ‘Bad Girls’ star Antonia Okonma, rapper extraordinaire Ms Dynamite and R&B songstress Keisha White, has continually attracted audiences from across the UK; proving to be one of the most anticipated events on the African Caribbean social calendar.

Richmond Agyekum, CEO Rich Promotions commented: “It is amazing to see all these young men and women so in touch with their culture. Ghana independence has become so universal, everyone, not just Ghanaians come and join in on the celebrations which explains its continual success. It just gets bigger and better every year!”
