Listeners to the station who are expecting to hear wall-to-wall African music would be very disappointed because Voice of Africa Radio has a strong speech commitment, providing phone-in discussion programmes for listeners to discuss issues affecting the African community both within London and internationally.
Voice of Africa Radio studios also play host to visiting regional councillors, MPs, and African dignitaries who regularly take part in the discussion programmes, answering questions and discussing both London wide and international agendas set by listeners.

Voice of Africa Radio (VOAR) was awarded a 5 year permanent FM licence on the 17th of August 2007. VOAR is the first and only legally licenced African radio station in the UK.
