DISMORE BACKS CAMPAIGN FOR KENYAN JUSTICE

ANDREW DISMORE, Labour Member of Parliament for Hendon, has given his backing to a campaign to secure justice for victims of British Colonial oppression during the Kenyan Emergency in the 1950's.

During this period, British Colonial administrators behaved brutally towards resistors to colonial rule, and the Mau Mau organisation.

Mr. Dismore has tabled a House of Commons motion and series of Parliamentary question.

Mr. Dismore said:
“The history of the behaviour of the British Colonial administration in Kenya during the 1950Õs emergency is a dark one. I believe it time for the United Kingdom to make amends, by “opening the books” as to what went on, and accepting responsibility.

Moreover, those who were particularly involved in organising torture and inhumane treatment ought to be brought to justice.

Those guilty of crimes against humanity should never rest easy”.
