VOICE OF AFRICA RADIO AWARDED FM LICENCE

OFCOM
the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK
communications industries, with responsibilities across television, radio,
telecommunications and wireless communications services, has granted Voice of Africa Radio, a
Newham-based Pan-African radio station, a 5 years permanent Radio Licence in London.
The African community and operators of the station had
been waiting anxiously since November 2004, when an application was
made. since made a bid to become one of the first full
time community radio stations in the UK. |
Till date 84 community radio stations have been
awarded licences and VOAR is the first African owned and managed station to be granted a
licence.
In a press release from the management of VOAR, they expressed
their gratitude to the entire African community for supporting
their bid to get this licence. The management also expressed their thanks to
your authoritative African newspaper “THE AFRICAN ECHO” for rellying our readers
to support this African enterprise.
The Chief Executive officer of the Station Mr. Space Clottey said
the Radio team will be taking time off to celebrate this great and
long-awaited news. He said details of the launching of the Radio station on 25th May ,2006, which is
the African Liberation Day will be announced soon. He however said Voice of Africa Radio has now opened its doors for anyone
interested in getting involved with the station to log
