MK College is a Birmingham based higher learning institution attracting students from varying cultures, with different languages and religions.
Also known as Michael Kingsley College, the school enrolls students from different ethnic backgrounds due to its extensive programs.
As an independent feepaying institution, MK College is fully accredited in Accounting, Business Studies, Information Technology, Legal Studies, Journalism, Media studies and many more. MK College is accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) for independent further and higher education.
BAC is a registered charity (non-profit-making organisation) which was established in 1984 to act as the national accrediting body for independent further and higher education. It is independent both of government and of the colleges with which it accredits.
A college which is accredited by BAC undergoes a thorough inspection every five years, with an interim visit after two or three years. "The college is an integrated education center that is challenging scholastic program with opportunities for academic, spiritual and moral growth, worthwhile work and significant services to others," opens Charles A. Umoh, the Principal of MK College. "As an accredited private institution of further learning, the college has redefined higher education, by placing learners at the center of their education."

"Our MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, BCS and CFA are fast growing as well as our Health and Social Care Courses, ACCA is gaining much ground," continues Principal Umoh. "The College is stirring to be one of the best private colleges in Birmingham. MK College's activities and spirit is vibrant and inspiring as the management encourages students to trust and have belief in God. Our wide range of courses average 20-25 students per class with a strong emphasis on personalised instructions."
MK College was established in 2003. Through its four years of existence the college has continued to expand. Presently, MK College has over 400 students.
"I've had the opportunity of working in an environment like this before coming to Birmingham to establish this," says Umoh. "It grew from a training institute to a full fledged college. We have over 400 students from all parts one can think of. We have students from Africa, Asia, Caribbean and the UK. The college is conentrating intself mainly on professional courses.
Sometimes people who have completed their masters degree program come to the college to do the professional level of the courses that we do.
We offer courses in the area of marketing, computing, health and social care, and IT up to degree levels. We are acrredited by the ABE for management and we are seeking accreditation for marketing from Chatered Institute of Marketing though we offer courses up to advance diploma in marketing from ICM, Institue of Commercial Management. In IT we offer courses up to graduate level, and in health and social care we do up to HND and higher professional diploma. There are other ncourses as well."
Principal Charles Umoh, who is originally Nigerian, is collaborating with other intelectual Africans in the UK and other nationals to make up a formidable team to deliver excellent education to it's students.
"It's a non-profit limited liability company where we have the board of directors who merge ideas and professionlism in seeing the way forward. With commited lecturers and other staff, it's a collaboration that aims to contribute in the development of the society at large. Mr Umoh said "There's more to the college, s activities and by and logging on to the colleges website www.mketc.org.uk you are given the opportunity to see all that we are about."
Z i m b a b w e a n - b o r n Thomas Domboka is the director of studies, a member of the board of directors and as well a lecturer at the college.
"One of our greatest tools for maketing the college is the students themselves. Many of our students come through face-to-face references; one student comes and likes what they see and refers a potential student, and it goes on and on. We've got students that moved from other colleges or universities to join us.
The quality and affordable cost of our trainings and courses are some of the things that attract these students.
Many African students for instance can't afford the cost for courses at the universities here, but with us they can get the same quality at a cost four times lower. We have this slogan, which is 'To Have and To Hold'. Once we have the students, we don't want to loose them." He said.
