ENYIMBA SURVIVE PROTEST
The court of arbitration of Sport
(CAS) in
Lausanne
has ruled that it has no jurisdiction to decide upon
the appeal filed on
19 August 2004
by Ismaili Sporting club against CAF decision to
confirm Enyimba FC as the winner of the 2003 CAF
Champions League.
This decision was based on the
fact that the new CAF Statutes stipulating that any
club or federation can lodge appeals with CAS against
CAF Committees decision entered into force only after
1st September 2004 (10 months after the final match
Ismaili / Enyimba was played in Ismailia on 13
December 2003).
