Sierra Leone’s bank governor lobbies America and China
Central Bank Governor, Dr. James David Rogers recently returned from a lobbying trip of America, China, The Netherlands and Germany in order to market Sierra Leone as a major player within the Diaspora.
He told journalists that he was able to achieve a lot during his two-month trip overseas.
"My meeting with officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank was very significant and successful," he said, adding that the World Bank President, Paul Woulfiwitz, who in the past many considered to be anti-African, was productive and showed his support for African development.
Rogers said he also visited Sengien in China where he got assistance from the Chinese to help boost Sierratel. He said that the Chinese government also promised to provide 12 mega watts machine for the Dodo Hydroelectric project in Kenema, to enable Kailahun and Zimmi to get electricity.
