Siemens position itself to power Botswana’s development initiatives

THE General Manager of Siemens Botswana, Derek Philips, says that his company is positioning itself to play a leading role in Botswana's development initiatives. Speaking at a recent cocktail party, Philips said that his company intends to expand by taking advantage of the envisaged developments in the power, mining and medical sectors.

"Through my experience in working in other African countries from different Siemens' offices, I believe that in order for Siemens Botswana to grow and be successful we need to concentrate on our commitment to service excellence, strong corporate governance and partnerships”. He said SiemensŐ competency in electrical and electronic engineering, and its affinity to the African continent will help to deliver the technology and infrastructure so essential to Botswana's future prosperity.

He said that the company has had an unwavering commitment to good governance, and will always be a shining example that business ought to be conducted for the benefit of the majority rather than for the selected few. Philips further talked about his company's vision to cultivate and nurture the spirit of corporate development by involving more local entrepreneurs in the economy as a means of stimulating economic growth.
