Angolan investments reached USD650 million in 2006
THE volume of investments in Angola in 2006 reached USD650 million, according to the National Agency for Private Investment administrator, Ari Carvalho. Mr. Carvalho, was addressing the official launch of a promotional campaign for the country on CNN when he made the statement.
The transformation industry provided the highest contribution with an amount of USD163 million, followed by the light industry with investments of USD85 million. The transport sector invested USD 64 million.
The group of foreign countries investing in Angola is led by Portugal with USD177 million, South Africa and United States of America with 68 and 23 million, respectively.
Ari Carvalho added that these investments have contributed to the creation of 17,000 jobs, including 2,300 for foreigners.
