CHINA EYES SERVICE SECTOR IN KENYA

THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT has announced plans to invest in Kenya's service sector as a new way of increasing its trade portfolio in the country and in Africa. Some of the new business opportunities the Chinese government are also exploring include the banking, tourism, culture and science and technology sub sectors.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the China- Kenya Economic and Commercial Cooperation Forum, Jia Qinglin said that his country hopes to increase trade with Africa to over $100billion by the year 2010.

Qinglin who is also the chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference expressed optimism that trade between the two would increase tremendously when they venture into the banking and tourism sub sectors.
