JAPAN is to give a grant of about $4m (sh7b) for the reconstruction of the Jinja Road roundabout, the Japanese vice-minister for foreign affairs, Masayoshi Hamada, has said.
"I am here to promote business ventures between Uganda and Japan. My government is planning to give Uganda between $3m (sh5.2b) and $4m for the reconstruction of the roundabout."
Japan has also provided funds for reconstruction of the Wandegeya and Clock Tower junctions.
"We are still studying the energy sector, but support is also expected," Hamada, who was accompanied by the counsellor at the Japanese embassy, Kazuaki Kameda, said.
