The Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon has recently donated agricultural equipment worth CFA 35 million to the Cameroon government. The Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Jean Nkuete, and the Chinese Ambassador, Wang Sifa, signed the document formalising the gift of some agricultural equipment by China to Cameroon.
The gift is made up of 35 appliances, ranging from computers, projectors, slides, and digital cameras, to tractors, grinding mills, and harvesters. |
"The gift may be modest, but it shows that my country is on the side of Cameroon in the fight against poverty and that it’s ready to bring in support whenever possible", the Chinese Ambassador said, while handing over the tools.
He recalled the important role of agriculture in the economies of the two countries as underscored at the Beijing Summit declaration and action plan on the Sino-African cooperation. And on this basis, he ecouraged Chinese enterprises to come in their masses and invest in Cameroon, particularly in the agricultural sector.
The Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, on his part recalled that it was not the first of such events organised by CENEEMA to receive tools from the Chinese government to promote mechanised farming in Cameroon. The new equipment will reinforce those already acquired by CENEEMA and the corporation's mechanised farming development potentials.
