Barclays Bank of Uganda has embarked on a re-expansion plan.

Speaking at the official inauguration of the Mbale branch of Barclays Bank, managing director, Nick Mbuvi said that in the next three years the bank would see an aggressive expansion strategy to extend financial services closer to the people.

"Barclays is increasing its grip and presence in the country by opening up new branches, Mbale being the inaugural one. This follows a number of successive product launches that the bank has had this year."

Mr Mbuvi explained that the bank's decision to expand was aimed at taking credit and other banking services nearer to communities in the countryside. He said that excellent service in the competitive banking sector has given the bank the confidence to expand its network
