Uganda mineral exploration to start very soon
Mineral exploration in the east of Uganda will begin very shortly, according to the country’s mining officials. A recent statement from the IBI Corporation, the company that will doing the exploration, said that the targeted Busia lands are part of the regional Greenstone Belt, which is found in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
The belt is rich with a number of gold mines, and there are likely to be operations by many international producers. Canada-based IBI will do the work with a team from the geo-physical aerial survey minerals identification programme. The programme is funded by the World Bank and is being carried out by the Ugandan Government.
