Agriculture ministry invests $335,000 in Angolan plants cultivation

A TOTAL of $335,000 will be invested in 20 months for the training of Angolan agricultural staff in the production of flowers, part of a project signed by the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations. The meeting, implemented since July, includes the application of biotechnology for the characterisation and use of various plants and benefits from FAO's technical assistance.

The project happens under the existing of technical bilateral cooperation between Angola and the FAO, an organisation to which the country is a member and benefits from its technical assistance. Signed by the Agriculture and Rural Development minister, Pedro Cango, and by the FAO's representative in Angola and in Sao Tome, Anatolio Ndong Mba, the agreement will allow Angolan peasants to benefit from local seeds for their cultural activities.
