Survey says that Tanzanian citizens don't know of DSE
SURVEY says that Tanzanian citizens don't know of DSE A recent survey has suggested that the majority of the elite in the rural areas of Tanzania, do not know of the existence of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange. 90% of the 3,000 people randomly interviewed across five regions said that they had never heard of the DSE.
The study, done by Mulich Publications Limited, for a client wishing to list in the stock exchange, also reveals that the DSE does not have representatives in the regions and operates only in Dar es Salaam.
And out of the 10% who said that they knew about the bourse, only 2% indicated they have bought shares in it. They said they preferred the Umoja Units when the government puts them on sale because banks, which have a presence in rural areas, sell them.
