Equity trading appreciates by 9.37% on Nigeria Stock Exchange


EQUITY trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange has appreciated by 9.37%. Specifically, a turnover of 475.71 million shares valued at N6.29 billion was recorded in 9,966 deals in contrast to the previous turnover of 434.97 million shares valued at N6.39 billion in 8,811 deals.

The Banking sub-sector accounted for 74.81% of the market turnover; Platinum Habib Bank Plc recorded the highest transaction in the subsector, followed by Wema Bank Plc with a turnover of 42.42 million shares and Oceanic Bank International (Nigeria) Plc recording a turnover of 37.18 million shares.

Insurance sub-sector followed on the sectoral analysis with a turnover of 43.08 million shares. The indices for measuring performance of listed securities appreciated further as the All-share index which opened at 40,295.09 points rose by 1.02%.
