Airborne survey of uranium permits in Niger

NORTH Atlantic Resources Ltd. has commenced an airborne survey of its three uranium exploration permits in the Republic of Niger. The projects are comprised of a 1,000 square kilometre block of mineral rights in the Assaouas area and a 2,000 square kilometre block of mineral rights in the Abelajouad area.

The Abelajouad area is 80 kilometres northwest of the Assaouas block, for a total of 3,000 square kilometres of mineral rights. Niger is the world's 4th largest uranium producer with annual production of approximately 3,500 tonnes of U3O8. The current work will consist of a high resolution, airborne, magnetometer, radiometric, and electromagnetic survey.

The survey will consist of approximately 15,000 line kilometres of surveying at a spacing of 200 by 2,000 metres and a mean terrain clearance of 70 metres. This work will provide critical information about the location and nature of radiometric anomalies and the depth to basement control structures. It is expected that the survey will take approximately 6 weeks and that ground follow up of radiometric anomalies will commence shortly thereafter.
