Spain to grant agriculture insurance to Mozambique

MOZAMBIQUE and Spain have reached an understanding that will lead to the signing of an agreement to grant insurance to the Mozambican agricultural sector. The announcement was made by the Mozambican Prime Minister, Luisa Diogo, at the end of a two day meeting of the "Women for a Better World" network in Madrid.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Diogo and the Spanish Agriculture Minister. Diogo explained that the two months before the signing of the agreement are to be used in discussions of the details before a Spanish team can come to Maputo to finalise the agreement.

Diogo gave no details of how such an insurance will be implemented, but she described the outcome of the talks as "a victory for Mozambicans". At the women's conference, participants discussed ways to strengthen the empowerment of women in the African continent and in Spain.
