Nigerian equity trading dips by 13.85 percent

EQUITY trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange continued its downward plunge as turnover dipped by 13.85 per cent. A turnover of 358.70 million shares valued at N3.97 billion was recorded in 9,678 deals in contrast to the previous turnover of 416.39 million shares valued at N3.83 billion in 9,065 deals.

The Banking sub-sector dominated the other sub-sectors accounting for 50.58 per cent of the market turnover with 181.44 million shares valued at N2.67 billion in 5,225 deals. The Insurance sub-sector followed with a turnover of 76.52 million shares valued at N190.56 million in 823 deals.

The indices for measuring performance of securities on the NSE, the all-share index and market capitalization also dropped by 0.89 per cent each.
