NSE TO LIST COMPANIES ON LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE
THE NIGERIAN Stock Exchange is making efforts to list the shares of some Nigerian quoted companies on the floor of the London Stock Exchange. The Exchange is completing arrangements to take 10 top Nigerian banks to make presentations in this regard in London.
The NSE and LSE have previously signed a memorandum of understanding which will allow for the possibility of cross-border listing. The belief in Nigeria is that the NSE's move should be successful and banks like First Bank and Zenith Bank which now have subsidiaries in the U.K could benefit greatly.
Already, First Bank's ongoing offer makes provision for foreigners to invest in GDR which could see their funds being warehoused and possibly list outside Nigeria. And the NSE is serious about making the nation's capital market among the best in the world.
