Museveni warns Otafiire again on markets
PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has warned the local government ministers against interfering with the Nakasero market tenders. "The ministers of local government should not interfere with Nakasero market. If they do, it will be risky for them," the President warned.
He made his statement as he was addressing MPs at the National Leadership Institute in Kyakwanzi.
Local government minister Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire was not present but his deputy, Hope Mwesigye, assured the President that his directive would be honoured.
Museveni stated that tendering of markets and taxi parks had never been a policy of the NRM. He accused Democratic Party officials of tendering markets to individuals.
On the Bulisa issue, Museveni said it was a simple problem, which could be solved easily. He stressed the importance of discipline, which he said emerges out of conviction and not fear. MPs should support government programmes out of persuasion and conviction. He clarified that NRM MPs must always accept decisions taken by the majority in the NRM caucus.
