KENYAN STOCK MARKET TURNOVER CLIMBS TO SH440 MILLION
THE value and volume of shares traded at the bourse increased and defied a fall in the prices of the index counters.
Turnover rose to Sh440 million on 6.7 million shares traded against Sh386 million on 5.3 million shares previously.
The NSE 20 share Index lost 43.74 points to close at 6016.47 points from the previous 6.060.21.
Market capitalisation declined to Sh819 billion against Sh825 billion recorded previously. Market analysts, however, explained that the current price index was meant to capture price movements and were not necessarily reflective of the turnover.
KenGen, ICDCI, and Barclays were the busiest traders, moving over one million shares each. Financials saw 3.1 million shares traded, representing 46.35% of the trade, and Industrial and Allied Sectors moved 2.7 million shares, which accounted for 40.12% of the volume.
