Nigeria's market capitalisation declines by N28.79 billion

TRADING ACTIVITY on the Nigerian Stock Exchange has resumed on a declining note as the performance indicators, the all-share index and market capitalisation dropped by 0.36% each. With this development, investors lost N28.79 billion as the market capitalisation which opened at N7.92 trillion closed at N7.92 trillion. The index closed at 51,327.50 points from 51,514.06 points.

This was as a result of the drop in the share prices of blue chip companies with Total Nigeria Plc recording the most depreciation, with a loss of N6.09 to close at N152.91 per share from N159.00 per share, followed by Nigerian Breweries Plc, dropping by N1.98 to close at N42.02 per share, while Conoil Plc dipped by N1.70 to close at N62.30 per share.

A turnover of 612.74 million shares valued at N8.54 billion was recorded in 10,245 deals in contrast to the more recent turnover of 596.30 million shares valued at N7.52 billion in 12,925 deals.
