Business support showcase for African and Caribbean bosses

Representatives of the African and Caribbean business community in Birmingham and Solihull are invited to a major conference showcasing the wide range of information, advice and support available to deliver a substantial boost to their profitability.

Hosted by the Birmingham Partnership for Change, the event is designed to highlight the wide range of business support services offered by the sub-region’s Learning and Skills Council, Business Link and the Black Business Association.

The event – Getting the Best for your Business - is to be held at Austin Court, Cambridge Street, Birmingham on Wednesday, November 26 from 6pm to 8.30pm and is open to all
businesspeople from the African and Caribbean business community – both those who are established and those who are taking their first steps into business.

Delegates will be able to find out more about a range of initiatives to boost business potential such as: • Investors in People – a structured programme of tailored advice and support to help a workforce realise its full potential. 

• Train2gain – free training and wage subsidies for employees with gaps in essential skills eg. numeracy, literacy.

• Modern Apprenticeship – work-based learning programmes for young people leading to National Vocational Qualifications Expert help in finding the right business premises in the right location will also be available. 

Heloise Shervington, Employment Development Officer at Birmingham Partnership for Change, said: “Research suggests that the African and Caribbean business community has a lower take-up of the many types of specialist support that are available.
