German President calls for European policy shift towards Africa

THE on-going Europe-Africa relations, characterised by the colonial concepts which are imposed on Africa should change, according to the German federal president, Horst Kohler.
"Many experts from Europe come to Africa with ready-made concepts. Often, these plans have been accepted merely to ensure that money is released for projects," Kohler said. |
He called for the re-defining of the partnership between Africa and Germany by involving the continent’s young leaders."This must change. And although it cannot happen overnight, we are at the beginning of a long learning curve. It will be painful for both sides because we have to face the mistakes which was made in the past."
