Morocco reports slight fall in unemployment
Morocco's unemployment rate has fallen slightly to 10 percent at the end of the third quarter, against the same period in 2005, the national High Planning Commission has reported. The HPC said that the rate had dropped by 0.9 percent.
It added that unemployment dropped in urban areas by 1.8 points to 15.8 percent, while it remained stagnant at 3.9 percent in rural areas, even though 184,000 jobs were created in the countryside. The cities generated 352,000 new jobs.
Those without jobs in the North African country fell from 1.3 million in 2005, to 1.1 million said the HPC. The commission added that the working population increased by 4.7 percent during the same period.
