The New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), the organization that brings African nations together, is set to mark its fifth anniversary. The event will take place in Abuja, and as part of its commemoration activities, will host a top-level multi stakeholder
dialogue.
NEPAD’s Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Firmino Mucavele, said in a statement that the organization had made a commitment to tackle the problems facing Africa. Mucavele also said that the meeting in Abuja would provide the opportunity to increase the engagement of various stakeholders and groups.
He said this was aimed at developing a comprehensive holistic policy framework for an African development supported by detailed indicative plans for all key socio-economic sectors. And NEPAD member countries are now being encouraged to embrace dialogue and strong leadership in order to achieve the NEPAD objective.
The organisation which was established to invigorate socio-economic development in Africa is asking the international community and the private sector to support implementation of the
programmes.
