SO, it has become part and parcel of everyday news – every other day someone is murdered on our streets; how sad. Immediately, all the hypocrites come out – if the suspects are black; we need positive black role models, somebody has to reach out to these kids, they need guidance. They have no future, it’s really tough on their streets and they have to survive by any means necessary.
Amazingly, if the suspects are white there’s no mention of them needing role models.
There is far too much airtime for negativity and none or just minimal for positivity.
It seems like you are guaranteed airtime if you do something really bad.
It is okay to have footballers and entertainers to encourage these kids to do something positive with their lives but it doesn’t always help.
Let’s just analyse this…
A footballer who is on £50,000.00 a week comes on tv wearing a £20,000.00 Rolex and the editor of the show probably insets a photo of the footballers car which is about £50,000.00. Are you telling me that the bad boys who do these nasty things on our streets will be interested in what advice he’s got to offer them?
Let’s be realistic, with this materialistic generation; they will be more interested in what they can do to get money to mimic the footballers’ lifestyle.
These kids see all the expensive things that these footballers have but don’t appreciate the hard work and sacrifices that they had to make to get to where they are now.
Why don’t we publicise the stories of ordinary everyday citizens like myself and see if it might make a difference. After all, we are looking for a positive solution for the future of the nation so let’s cut out the negativity and introduce positivity.
I have been on the streets, I have experienced hardship unimaginable, done a lot of bad things but I changed my life round; put myself through college and university; and I have been in employment for the last 8 years.
I am the author of FRAUD: Finance Related African Undergraduate Degree and I got over 20 reject letters when I first tried to get my book published 10 years ago.
At first I thought it was a colour thing but I didn’t give up, I still persevered and last year rewrote the whole book and tried again to get it published.
Through my hard work and determination I turned my dream into reality and my book is now available online from Amazon, Waterstone, Authorhouse, Borders; to name a few outlets.
These kids need to hear my story, life isn’t easy but killing and robbing each other is not a solution.
My advice to these kids – DON’T LET THE BLING BLING FORCE YOU TO BANG BANG!!!!
