AFRICAN ECHO ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

June Osigwe an emerging African Model

JUNE is one of the fledging young African models treading a stardom path in the UK's scene. African Echo's Eric Orji caught up with her and got as much in a quick interview.

African Echo (AE): Who inspired you into modelling?
June Osigwe (JO): My family, mainly, my sister inspired me to start modelling as they felt it would be something that I would be good at, not only them but I have always admired Tyra Banks and have always wanted to be as successful as her.

AE: What are the very high standard fashion shows you've participated in?
JO: I took part in the FDC Young Designer Awards 2006, which was a very exciting event.

AE:Have you modelled for a fashion house, company or any outfit?
JO:Not yet.

AE: How would you describe yourself to a total stranger?
JO: I'm social, outgoing, caring and very considerate.

AE: What are your dreams in the modelling profession?

JO: To achieve optimum success and be the face of Africa model, and also to secure big contracts with big fashion designers and fashion labels.

AE: Give me a brief of other things you do.
JO: I have just finished a BA Business Studies Degree. My interests and hobbies include travelling; I really enjoy visiting different countries and experiencing different cultures. Other interests include going out, socialising and meeting new people.

AE: What do you think of African models?
JO: I think African models are great as their looks are often diverse and versatile, which should obviously work in their favour. Sometimes I don't think they are given the credibility that they deserve.

AE: Tell me your turn on and turn off in the profession?
JO: My turn on in the profession is the fact that it can be a fun and exciting experience. Everyone wants to get paid to wear beautiful clothes and get made up. However, my turn offs in the profession is the fact that it is based solely on 'looks' and a certain 'type'.

AE: Give me your family backgrounds.
JO: My family come from Africa, Nigeria to be specific.

AE: And, give me broad answers to the questions you think I should have asked.
JO: I guess you've asked all that I have answers for… hahaha… Thanks for the opportunity.
