Phina Oruche Evicted From ITV’s ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here”

PHINA ORUCHE, the 31 year old ‘Footballer’s Wives’ actress and columnist of Aspire magazine’s ‘Beauty Bible’ was the fifth person voted out of the ITV show ‘I’m A Celebrity -Get Me Out of Here’, leaving the show on day 15.

After hearing the news she cried out “Yes!".."Praise the lord!" she shrieked clapping her hands. "Thank god!" Walking across the bridge to meet presenters Ant & Dec, the star told them: "I left my mark and I’m happy to be gone!" The strong-willed, opinionated woman did very well considering the challenges she was up against, and was one of the campers that was voted many times by the public to do a ‘bush-tucker’ trial inorder to win food for the camp, on each occasion Phina rose to the challenge and won stars for her fellow celebrities earning them a meal each time, without courageous and gutsy individuals like Phina in the camp the fellow celebs would have probably starved.

She comments "People either really, really like me or people are really, really frightened of me. It depends on how I use my gob."

"I'm not the best listener," she says. "People talking about themselves winds me up - that kind of self absorbed persona." "A lot of my confidence comes from being put together nicely," she sighs.

"So probably you're gonna see me melt down on national television. Who are you when you ain't got no lip gloss?" Phina is best known for playing glossy, drug-taking, bisexual diva Liberty Baker in Footballer's Wives, for which she received a 2006 Screen Nation Award for ‘Favourite TV Star’ but says she is nothing like her onscreen character "I'm definitely different….she says, I’m not just a glossy diva in a mini skirt! It's not good for people to see me in a limited super-modelly way."

But confesses she can be temperamental “I think I've got a short fuse“. Apart from being known for her role in ‘Footballer’s Wives’, many may not know that she has actually been in the industry for quite a while involved in various ventures, she started her career in London and Paris as a fashion model, then unto New York where she worked extensively in American fashion magazines and represented the Gap for five seasons.

At one stage of her career she had a desire to become an actress which took her to the famed Actor's Studio where she became a lifetime member and where she was also instructed by Martin Landau, Mark Rydell and Barbara Bain. This led her to start her Film and TV career in the United States (hence her British/ American accent) some of her stage debuts were in ‘Ten Dollar Drinks‘, ‘The Sty of the Blind Pig’ and ‘Educating Rita’ but modelling and acting are not the only talents she possesses.

As well as being a model-actor Phina has also written and produced a few films, the roster of films as writer/producer/ actor include the short ‘Selah’ and her first feature length documentary Three’. She has also ran the London Marathon in aid of the Anthony Nolan Trust which helped to raise thousands of funds and has had her singing debut on "Celebrity Stars in their Eyes" appearing as the Fugees lead singer Lauryn Hill.

Most recently the star has launched her own independent film company called ‘Ibo Girl Films’ this summer and hosted the 1st ever Miss Black Britain.

With ITV‘s ‘I’m A Celebrity- Get Me Out of Here’ now completed its season we wonder what’s next for Phina Oruche? with all the many talents she has been blessed with I’m sure she has something exciting in the pipeline…watch this space!
