SOUTH AFRICA WINS UN SECURITY COUNCIL SEAT

South Africa, last week scored a major diplomatic coup by being elected to a position on the Security Council of the United Nations.
Belgium, Indonesia and Italy were also elected to serve as non-permanent members of the Security Council.

545 MILLION GRANT TO GHANA

President
J. A. Kufuor of Ghana has inaugurated an
authority called the Millennium
Development Authority (MiDA), the body set
up to oversee the implementation of the
Ghana Program of the Millennium Challenge
Account. Inaugurating the board, at the
Castle in Osu, seat of government, the
President emphasized that the $545 million
grant from the government of the US was
unprecedented and significant and charged
board members to be “business-like in
approach, defend the national interest,
and ensure that farmers adopt the best
practices in order to lay the foundations
for modern agriculture in the

MADONNA PLEADS FOR UNDERSTANDING

My husband and I began the adoption process many months prior to our trip to Malawi. I did not wish to disclose my intentions to the world prior to the adoption happening as this is a private family matter. After learning that there were over one million orphans in Malawi, it was my wish to open up our home and help one child escape an extreme life of hardship, poverty and in many cases death, as well as expand out family.
