In the Corner with Winston Mckenzie
WHERE ARE OUR LEADERS?

IN April 2005 I received an amazing phone call. "It's Robert Kilroy-Silk," said my Business Partner. "He wants to speak to you. - Careful!" she warned.

I held the phone, mysteriously wondering what this guy could possibly want. Had I known at the time the problems that would proceed, and follow me to this day, I would never have got involved with such a person, or his organisation. I was head-hunted by a celebrity Party Leader to sit on his Front Bench specifically to write Policies for the Black Community. Why not? - I thought.

The tragedy is, I believed him! Robert Kilroy-Silk was so very convinving. He fooled me into believing there was, at last, something of political relevance on offer for the black community. Slowly and painfully, during the 2005 General Election, the Party's racist attitude reared it's ugly head.

I felt trapped. Something that promised to have been So good, lay in tatters. I left the Party in disgust! And hey! Haven't we all been fooled at some time? - Tony Blair and his Government - They fooled the whole World into believing there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, ready to be deployed in 45 minutes!

Let's move on to more pertinent issues within our society today, which I am consistent in trying to advance. I have a great vision for London's future.

What happened to good Crhistian principles, respect, dignity, understanding, ambition, and above all, the beauty of wisdom? I have decided to stand as an Independent Candidate for the Office of Mayor of London. I shall leave no stone unturned in order to find good solutions for the brow-beaten people of London. To achieve these ends, I am in need of further Sponsorship, funds and support from the community, and would welcome your response. (See details below).

My heart bleeds for youngsters of modern-day Britain, particularly our teenagers who are at a loss as to how they should better themselves!

C o n s i s t e n t l y , Governments have encouraged one-parent families, throwing everyone together like sardines in a can. Some cope quite well as single parents, working extremely hard to bring up their children, who do achieve, and come to very little harm along the way. In an ideal world there would always be a good ending. The truth is, we live in a climate of constant threats, greed and savagery.

Many of us have no care or thought for those less able than ourselves. Finally the can erupts, and out pours broken hearts, families and lives, which give lead to Hell's door as a respite. Once there, one participates in the viscous circle of anti-depressant tablets - or worse!

Successive Governments target those least able to defend themselves - the very old, vulnerable or young.

The gaping hole in the Pension Funds, the closure of Youth Centres, selling off school playing fields, together with the lack of carers to tend the elderly, needy or handicapped. The knock-on effect is evident. As our youngsters strive for survival, the more oppressed they become, restlessly turning on one another! Many acts of gun and knife crime are the direct result of spurof- the-moment anger and frustration.

London has witnessed the tenacity and pace of rising crime. Black on black crime is common, but before you shout the obvious, the problem is widespread and inclusive of all.

We are sitting on a time bomb of teenage anger and frustration. Anger at being rejected, at non-inclusion, and being unable to get out of the poverty trap. Realistically, we have lost control of our own destiny. The system has failed us all! Government must act immediately in order to stem the flow of blood on our streets.

Successive Governments have reaped the rewards of our vote, while the black community live in the shadows, bewildered, alone and disillusioned. For too long we have been content and accepted this way of life, although we have never understood how this situation has occurred.

The mismanagement of funds by the Labour Governemnt, and it's Officers within the black community, who claim to be helping us, is an on-going factor. The repercussions have affected us all. Today's world has become an unsafe and unstable environment in which to live. People do not talk any more.

WHERE ARE OUR LEADERS? You'd be amazed at the simplicity of solutions that would make everyone's lives so much easier ...... Come with me on my journey. Follow me! God be with you all
