If I’m going to be completely honest with you and myself, then I would have to say that I truly hate the world, now when I say hate I don’t mean in the crazy, terrorist way, but I mean in the reflective, realist way, realistic in the sense that I finally see the world for what it is.
When I think about society, I always feel disheartened and worried for the future, with the current state of the world I find it hard to believe that things can get any better, especially when we have misguided leaders controlling some of the most influential countries in the world and their control and power has effect on a lot of the world’s people, especially minorities such as ourselves. If the systems that these men have created for their respective communities to follow are just as corrupted as the people that have formulated them, then there will be dramatic repercussions for the future and no positive way forward.
Now my intentions now are the same as they have always been, I’m not here to force my beliefs and views onto people, that wouldn’t be fair I’m not Tony Blair nor am I George Bush however I am a black man who has over the last year began to mature and through this somewhat late transition of maturity I have managed to instil knowledge into my mind, as well as try and spread that same knowledge to others.
In regards to the future of the black race the overwhelming problems that have been developed by society to systematically divide and break-up our unity as a community, have been a dilemma for our progression for some time. Racism, stereotypes, discrimination, social divisions, self-hatred and the media and government’s creation
‘Black-on-Black violence’ have all compiled to the predicament that we as black people face today.
Though as black people we complain about the influence that the police, society, the government and the media have on our lifestyles and though the combine force of these factors is a negative dynamic that has lead to the gradual destruction of our people, we also have a hand to do in this problem.
The battle that we face with each other, as black people is a problem that if not solved could result in all hopes of our unity begin restored fade away and at present restoring our unity is vital if there is to be any form of reunion for the black race.
‘We black men have a hard enough time in our own struggle for justice and already have enough enemies as it is, to make the drastic mistake of attacking each other and adding more weight to an already unbearable load. – Malcolm X
When we look at the way the lives are for black people around the world, all that remains clear to see, is that, dare I say we have dropped down the social ladder and we have became outcasts amongst the world communities and even our own. What we can’t do is become so misguided that we lose touch with each other and ourselves and by doing so all will do is ignite these views and opinions that have been formulated by the world that we live in.
Our need to continuously spend our time looking elsewhere for the causes of our current social, political and racial state, though there is much reason for us to do so, the fact remains is there can’t be any form of unity in the future unless we as black people have the common sense to become fully aware, that theses problems are merely secondary to the one at hand, that being the ‘re-development of our brotherhood and our sisterhood’.
We are a proud and beautiful race, with a history that spans over centuries; and with that many people have embraced our vast cultures, however when I turn on the television, log onto the internet, open a newspaper or even listen to the radio, all that becomes aware to me is how far away we have departed from these vision. The conclusion that is made clear is that black people are savages and unruly, and all the views and opinions of society are merely perpetuated every time we tune into one of these mediums. That is why it is easy to see why the youth of today are so upset, their feelings of being trapped and frustrated result in their outbursts towards each other.
However I truly hope that these problems that we have with each other will eventually heal and that the unity and peace amongst black people will be restored. Only time will tell, but I believe that time will be our healer, the question is, ‘How long will it take?’
‘There can be no black-white unity until there is first some black unity. We cannot think of uniting with others until after we have first united among ourselves. We cannot think of being acceptable to others until we have first proven acceptable to ourselves’ – Malcolm X
